KOREANOY
University of the Philippines-Diliman:
• Koreanoy was difficult for me to do because I had no
crew and it was a one-man show. My classmates couldn’t help because
they were also doing their documentaries for submission to class. I always
brought my video camera with me and every time I see Danny, my subject,
I become ecstatic to shoot. It’s as if there is always something
new to find out. Danny was also generous of his time and information.
• I had audio and editing problems the day before submission. But
luck gripped me and I was able to submit it to our professor on time.
I also asked my friend to give ABC5 Dokyu staff a copy since they were
looking for documentaries to feature. Good enough, I was chosen as one
of the finalists and they aired my film on national television.
• I
remember Danny telling me that maybe he is more Filipino than us and we
are more Koreans than he is. I was alarmed and I realized I have to renew
my
inclination to nationalism and my love to motherland.
BATANG
BAKAW
Polytechnic University of the Philippines:
• We actually had a hard time taking footage of our subjects because
we were prohibited by port officials. The kids were not allowed to be
filmed that is why we have to conceal our video camera inside a 'bayong'.
We also have to pretend that we were just bystanders or buyers so that
port authorities would not figure what we were doing.
• Before shooting, we actually designed a plan, and thought well
of the things we do, so as not be caught by port officials. Because we
fear that port authorities might confiscate our camera, we also hid it
in such a way that we could take footage of our subjects and conduct our
interviews with them.
• We had a hard time when we came to the point when we were interviewing
the children. People around kept on interrupting us and telling the children
that we were with the cops and after the interview, we were going to take
them in jail.
lang”this line was said by a former Bakaw Boy. The phrase actually
speaks a thousand words about poverty, crime, drug addiction, and other
issues affecting the youth. Underneath that line lies different emotions
and reality of the children in that jail, that left a scar in their lives.

•
I (INRI). Yung follow
